This paper is based on analysis of the poem Metamorphoses of Ovid and its references to the night, what female characters are associated with it, and specially on the character of PhoebeDiana. Based on these aspects will be discussed various gender inequalities in the Roman world through issues such as incest, violation, virginity, motherhood, the power of the pater familias, marriage, magical practices or work.Downloads
