Abstract

The paper offers an overview on the application in the German courts of the CouncilRegulation (EC) n. 4/2009 of 18 December 2008 on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition and enforcement of decisions and cooperation in matters relating to maintenance obligations and the Hague Protocol of 23 November 2007 on the Law Applicable to Maintenance Obligations.

The study analyses those judgments portraying the most significant difficulties of employment of these legal instruments almost ten years after their application in the European Union.
