Abstract

The University College of San Millán was one of the most important institutions for the training and reception of students in the city of Salamanca during the Modern Age. Thus, collegiate life in this type of institution was not unrelated to the academic dynamics that took place in other spaces such as the classrooms, or the university quarters. In this context, the characteristics of this collegiate institution are studied through some key aspects of its members, such as the admission process, the number of students and the types of scholarships, geographical origin and socio-economic status, between 1537 and 1772. All this is possible thanks to the documentation generated in parallel both by the University of Salamanca and by the college’s organs of power, which maintained firm control over their enrolments.
