Abstract

This article assesses the studies carried out on Spanish university students from 1800 to 1950. It presents their historical evolution, their growth, their community life, their ideologies and the protests they sparked. The paper shows the historiographical evolution from quantitative history to social and cultural history, and provides some new perspectives.
