Abstract

The author analyses the current Spanish system for university professors and lecturers selection by a provocative style nearer to essay than to usual academics works. The main thesis of the paper is considering the current system as the worse among the ones have been adopted since the Act for University Reform in 1983 because the criteria used by it are absolutely unsuitable for appreciating the quality of professors and lecturers. As well, he develops a hard critic to National Agency for Quality Assurance in University System (ANECA) because its procedure has replaced the public evaluation of candidate’s knowledge for a formal and opaque evaluation. Finally, paper proposes a new selection system based on publicity, assessment by specialists and showdown principles.
