Abstract

Just War has a long tradition in the history of Western ethics, legal and political thought. In 2009, during the award ceremony of Nobel Prize, Barack Obama has admitted its current importance in foreign affairs at the beginning of the 21st Century. This article develops some formal, substantial and prudential criteria to face the challenges of new forms of warfare such as “wars of fourth generation”.
