Abstract

This article gives a brief description of a concept of paternalism that would be central in the current fields of law, politics and ethics. According to it, paternalism would essentially consist of an exercise of power over a subject (or a group of subjects) aimed at avoiding damages of physical, psychic and/or economic type to the subject itself (or group). Likewise, the general guidelines of a model of justification of paternalistic intervention are described.
