Resumen

La manipulación e injerencia informativa extranjera (FIMI) se ha consolidado como herramienta estratégica de poder. Este artículo introduce y delimita la supresión de información (IS) como componente clave de dichas operaciones y tiene por objetivo proponer una definición del concepto, diferenciarlo de la desinformación y explicitar su articulación con la censura. Se sostiene que es una estrategia sistémica que opera en fases activas y reactivas, manifestándose a través de censura y autocensura en un entorno multinivel –estatal, corporativo y participativo– donde también median mecanismos algorítmicos y económicos. En este marco, la censura es uno de los mecanismos de la IS –no un sinónimo–, y su interacción con la autocensura permite moldear narrativas y restringir el acceso a información crítica en contextos nacionales y transnacionales. Se concluye que la IS complementa, pero trasciende la desinformación, con implicaciones directas para los derechos y libertades democráticas y para el diseño de respuestas de resiliencia.
