Directive (EU) 2023/970, which reinforces the application of the principle of equal remuneration between menand women and its transposition in Spain

Following a thorough assessment of the current framework in matter of equal pay for equal work or work of equal value, the Communication of the Commission, of March 5, 2020, entitled «A Equality Union: Strategy for Gender Equality 2020-2025» announced that the Commission would propose binding measures on salary transparency, which has been carried out through the recent Directive (EU) 2023/970 of the European Parliament and of the Council of May 10 of 2023 which reinforces the application of the principle of equality of remuneration between men and women for the same work or a work of equal value through remuneration transparency measures and mechanisms to its fulfilment. This study analyses the content of said directive as well as its transposition in Spain.
