Call for papers: Health disinformation and society: Risks, responses, and the role of communication
This monographic issue seeks to explore the causes, consequences, and communication strategies surrounding health-related misinformation and disinformation across traditional and digital platforms.
We welcome original research articles, theoretical analyses, case studies, and reviews on topics including (but not limited to):
- The role of social media in spreading or combating health disinformation
- Fact-checking initiatives and their impact on public trust
- Health communication during pandemics or public health crises
- Disinformation related to vaccines, nutrition, mental health, and chronic illnesses
- The influence of influencers and microcelebrities in shaping health narratives
- Policy, regulation, and ethical dimensions of digital health content
- Audience reception, media literacy, and the psychology of belief in misinformation
Languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese, Italian and French.
Deadline for submissions: October 15, 2025
Expected publication: First half of 2026
