La comunicación es una herramienta indispensable para estas organizaciones de pacientes que tienen como objeto formar parte de la agenda social y captar la atención de las administraciones para cambiar su situación. Este artículo se centra en la teoría del framing para determinar la representatividad de los pacientes en estos medios. Para llevar a cabo esta investigación se ha analizado su impacto en los medios con mayor audiencia: prensa (El País, El Mundo, ABC, La Vanguardia y El Periódico) y televisión (Telecinco, Antena 3, La 1, La Sexta, Cuatro), en el periodo de 2012 a 2014. La metodología utilizada es el análisis de contenido de las piezas de prensa y televisión basadas en la teoría del framing visual. Como conclusiones principales se deduce que la fotografías que aparecen en prensa en 2012 y 2013 son principalmente de los pacientes, y en 2014 predomina la presencia de personalidades. Las imágenes en televisión son de pacientes a título individual y las personalidades son un elemento atractivo en la cobertura de actos solidarios relacionados con las ER.Palabras clave: Enfermedades raras, pacientes, imagen, frames, visualesAbstract: Patients with rare diseases have aimed their efforts in achieving greater visibility in media and getting funds for the research of treatments in the last decade. Communication is an indispensable tool for these organizations, to be part of the agenda of the media and society and to claim their rights and appeal the attention of the government to change their situation.This article focuses on the theory of framing, to assess the representativeness of patients in these traditional media. To carry out this research, we analyzed the impact of this group in the media with the highest circulation and audience in Spain: press, (El País, El Mundo, La Vanguardia, ABC and El Periódico), and television (Telecinco, Antena 3, La 1, La 2 (TVE), La Sexta, Cuatro), from 2012 to 2014. The methodology used is the analysis of content of presse and television pieces based on the theory of visual framing. We could conclude pictures on press in 2012 and 2013 are mainly of patients, and in 2014 the presence of personalities stands out.
