Abstract

Introduction: The state of anxiety is one of the most common disorders experienced by a patient who is going to undergo surgery. The pre-surgical interview becomes a useful communication tool to control anxiety through of a nurse intervention with the patient where, through communication, additional information about the process is provided, in order to obtain the patient's physical and psychological well-being. Objectives: To analyze if the presurgical visit is a useful tool to reduce the levels of anxiety experienced by the individual as regards surgical process. Methodology: A literature review was made in different databases. Results: Most of the articles analyzed show that the presurgical interview has a series of advantages over the level of anxiety of the patient, only a minimum part of the articles do not find a benefit for the patient, but in no case would be harmful. Conclusion: The pre-surgical interview is a valid instrument because through its implementation it is possible to establish a climate of trust and tranquility reducing the patient's anxiety, in addition to increasing their degree of satisfaction.
