The liberal democracy and the configuration of the judiciary. An irreversible dichotomy between North America and the European Union?

The election of judges through universal suffrage is a method initially used in the United States of America, but it has recently been implemented in Mexico and Bolivia as well. Although this method does not pose a threat to judicial independence or the guarantee of due process in those countries, it is incompatible with the liberal state model in the European Union.
