José Justo Escalígero (1540-1609): los contactos católicos de un erudito calvinista

Abstract

Esta contribución se propone llamar la atlención sobre las luerzas religiosas
que ejercían influencia en el intercambio del conocimiento dentro
de la República de las Letras en la Europa del norte en torno al año
1600. Se discutirá la ligura del humanista francés José Justo Escalígero
(1540-1609) Y sus contactos eruditos. El núcleo del estudio lo ocupa la
correspondencia de Escalígero, cuyos corresponsales son analizados
tanto cuantitativamente como cualitativamente.

Summary: This article aims to draw atlention to the religious lorces that had a
great deal 01 influence on the exchange 01 knowledge in the Republic 01
Letlers in Northern Europe around 1600. The study presents an analysis
of the epistolary nelwork 01 the French Huguenot scholar Joseph Justus
Scaliger (1540-1609). The religious affiliations 01 his correspondents
are analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively.
