Soviet secret services in Lithuania. Research and evolution in Lithuanian storiography since 1991

Abstract

Investigar los servicios secretos soviéticos es importante porque constituyeron
una parte sustancial del sistema soviético, de modo que es imperativo
revelar su lugar en la Lituania soviética y explicar sistemáticamente
su conexián con el partido comunista. Obras sobre la actividad
del KGB contra concretos grupos anti-soviéticos así como investigaciones
acerca de los agentes son aún dominantes en la historiografía porque
la sociedad lituana, después del proceso de transición, está especialmente
interesada en estos temas.

Summary: Research on Soviet secret services is important beca use they were a
substantial part of the soviet system, so it is imperative to reveal its
place in Soviet Lithuanian, and to explain systematically its connection
with the communist party. Works on KGB's activity against specific antisoviet
groups and research about agents are still dominant in historiography,
because Lithuanian society, after the transition process, is mostly
interested in such issues.
