Karl Kraus e la Prima Guerra Mondiale

Abstract

Resumo: Tra il 1915 e la fine del conflitto Karl Kraus, intellettuale austriaco che aveva fatto della satira politica e della critica del linguaggio giornalistico la propia missione, si impegna in una strenua battaglia contro la disumanità e la ferocia della guerra, raccogliendo sulle pagine della Fackel, la rivista da lui pubblicata per oltre trent’anni dal 1899 al 1936, i testi che poi confluiranno nella grande tragedia Gli ultimi giorni dell’Umanità, un’opera grandiosa, grondante di orrore, che cerca di rappresentare l’irrappresentabile.

Abstract: Between 1915 and the end of the war, Karl Kraus, an Austrian intellectual who had made political satire and criticism of journalistic language his mission, engaged in a fierce battle against the inhumanity and cruelty of war. On the pages of “Fackel”, a magazine he published between 1899 to 1936, he documented many texts that are compiled into the tragedy of the “Last Days of Mankind”, a great work that drips with horror and that seeks to represent the “unrepresentable”.
