Alterity is the recognition of the other; it is the act of recognizing an alternative reality different from our own which, in today's societies, is an epistemological presupposition, that emerges as an ab initio condition without which the intercultural dialogue that we all do (albeit sometimes implicitly) can be accomplished. Thus, this communication will deal with the status quo of the application of the ethics alterity in the Portuguese State and, in particular, with regarding the Afro-descendant community. It is a critical contribution to the migrant’s integration system of this community in Portugal, having as a privileged field of study the pandemic period that we’re facing and, in particular, its impact on the consummation of intercultural dialogue with Portuguese Afro-descendants. The proposal underlying the article is articulated based on the synthesis between the paradigm of difference and recognition based on the analysis of a set of gaps in the current paradigm.Downloads
