Diosas y culto en Arcadia: los santuarios arcaizantes figalos

Abstract

Eurinome and Demeter Melaina´s sanctuaries (Phigaleia, Arcadia) were the axes of a non-linear concept of time, a time that clutched to the past to stop progress and build a new sense of time. They were built to create a time which reduced past-present opposition, encouraging the tradition understood as an alive present. The basis of that religious construction are female cults related to the earth. Without using physic threats or coercions, it was possible to affix the Phigaleians to the rules of their elites.
