Human Trafficking for Sexual Exploitation in the Context of European and Spanish Asylum Law
Abstract
Many women and girls seeking asylum in the European Union (EU), especially those who are victims of various forms of gender-based violence, such as human trafficking for sexual exploitation, find themselves in a situation of extreme vulnerability. This vulnerability is exacerbated by a system that, on many occasions, renders them invisible and subjects them to revictimization. In this regard, the aim of this work is to analyze, from a gender perspective, the international protection regimes implemented by the EU and Spain, in order to comprehend the content and scope of the support provided to these victims.
