Abstract

Ethics and esthetics of the 'fair sex'. This paper studies the role played by descriptions of women as the 'fair sex' (since the Renaissance on) in order to reconfigure the great values of beauty, truth, and the good. It also outlines the historical evolution of esthetic pressure upon women, reaching its peak in today's image society, in which it is treated as a question of meritocracy.
