Abstract

Mental disease has undergone changes in our history, from its first conceptions to the concept we have in our society. This work will be exposed as it has developed and evolved not only from the level of disciplines such as psychiatry and psychology but also analyzing it from a gender perspective. Women have historically been classified as "mentally lower", “crazy " or "mentally ill"as a result of a patriarchy that exists in medicine and related sciences rather than of scientific knowledge. It is interesting to delve into this subject and explains how in the contemporary age has addressed this problem in women as is the current perspective on the general and, in particular, in Spanish women.
