Democracia en el país y en la casa. Reflexión y activismo feminista durante la dictadura de Pinochet (1973-1989)
Abstract
During Pinochet’s Dictatorship a new phase of women’s movement was developed, because of the lack of liberty, the state repression and the economical crisis. The critique of the women’s movement was towards the dictatorial system and the patriarchal oppression. This context allowed a compromised activism with the fall of the military regime, this activism operated from a female identity built over the community of interests but maintaining the differences between women. Therefore, human rights groups, shantytown’s women and feminists coordinated themselves creating strategies of protests and a gendered resistance in the street and at home. They formulated a new feminine citizenship and demanded the return of democracy.
