Abstract

The misunderstanding, to which multiculturalism has conducted us, is disclosed by now: about otherness we cannot make theory, it is the surest way to incorporate it and to keep it silent. We have to contrast the rhetorical multiculturalism of common good through the imagination of the other. Not his/her knowledge once for all but a continuous exercise of his/her imagination and reinvention. Practice suggestions to recognize the other" come from the thinking of a west feminist, Luce Irigaray, and an oriental one, Gayatri Chakravorti Spivak. They invite us to a non coercive arrangement of desires. As the article sustains, currently the problems of the humanity are faced with mere political-juridical strategies or with military interventions. Nothing of what is done with these modalities is destined to last, if we dont stop the attempt to build otherness as object of knowledge.
