On the platonic conception of philosophy as a therapy for corruption

Keywords: Plato, Classical political theory, Greek medicine, corruption, stasis, polis

Abstract

This paper aims to frame the phenomenon of political corruption and decadence in the Platonic conception of the physiological unity of the processes in the generated and living creature that is the universe and, in parallel, in the human sphere, both individual and collective. To this purpose, passages from certain Platonic dialogues are commented in which references are established to medical practice as a model of application of a techne that the ruler or legislator must assume to put into practice that paradigm in the heavens that continually fades before us.
