Un intercambio cultural: el colegio de España en Bolonia y los españoles en el siglo XIX

Resumen: La universidad de Bolonia cuenta con un pequeño grupo de estudiantes españoles que frecuentan sus aulas gracias a la existencia del Real Colegio de España, también denominado colegio de San Clemente de los españoles. El colegio, conoció desde sus orígenes momentos de esplendor y de decadencia, estos últimos acentuados con el paso del antiguo régimen al liberalismo. La ocupación francesa de Bolonia en 1796 y la adaptación a los postulados emanados de la revolución francesa, supusieron un cambio muy drástico para la institución .En estas líneas se pretende ver la difícil supervivencia del colegio de España en Bolonia a lo largo del siglo XIX, su crisis, los cambios operados, el incremento del poder del estado español en detrimento del de la Iglesia, sus colegiales, las relaciones de poder entre éstos y el estado español y, en definitiva, la difícil adaptación de las instituciones del antiguo régimen a los requerimientos del estado liberal, muy alejados de la filosofía que inspiró la creación del colegio de San Clemente.

Abstract: From the late fourteenth century the University of Bologna has in their classrooms a small number of Spanish students who frequent the Athenaeum thanks to the existence of the Royal College of Spain. The college lived from the beginning moments of splendor and decadence, the latter accentuated with the passage from the Ancien Regime to liberalism. The French occupation of Bologna in 1796 and the adaptation to the principles emanating from the French Revolution, marked a drastic change for the institution. Through this article we see the difficult survival of the College of Spain in Bologna during the nineteenth century, its crisis, the changes, the increasing power of the Spanish state to the detriment of the Church, the schollboys, the power relations between them and the Spanish state and ultimately the difficult adaptation of the institutions of the ancien regime to the requirements of the Liberal State, far from the philosophy that inspired the creation of the College of Bologna.
