Health education, prevention and community promotion through a Facebook page of a primary care health center
Abstract
Introduction: The use of internet as a source of information for social and health issues has grown exponentially in recent years. Objectives: To present the experience of managing a page of a primary care health center on social networks. The page aims to approach the user and promote health education, prevention and promotion of community health, in addition to making it a more available health asset to the community. Methodology: The page was created in 2018 on the Facebook social network for the Altamira Health Center. The health social worker and physical therapist are the creators and administrators. The procedure used is to publish both factual and simple content related to health and community education. Results: In almost two years of activity, the page has more than 1,000 followers, most of them women. Specifically, publications about community activities reached the highest number of interactions. Conclusion: The creation of a page does not require much investment, the challenge comes from the involvement of the administrators and the motivation of the users to feel part of the group and to participate actively.
