Ambrosio de Morales y las fuentes historiográficas del martirio de los santos Justo y Pastor

Abstract

Ambrosio de Morales had a personal and profes­sional relationship with Alcalá. Due to this, he was proposed to justify the burdensome transfer of Justo and Pastor’s relics from Huesca to Alcalá. Thus, the work is not only a hagiography, perhaps a humanistic hagiography treatise of all that, until the same date of 1568, was known of these mar­tyrs throughout Christendom. Our proposal is to analyze the sources used by Ambrosio de Morales to investigate, collect documentation, write and publish La vida, la invención, el martirio, las gran­dezas y las translaciones de los gloriosos niños már­tires Justo y Pastor (Alcalá, 1568) as well as make a contribution on the final intentions of the work.
