Abstract

The right to education is one of the rights that is most frequently violated during armed conflicts. These violations happen in various forms, including the killing of students and teachers, physical aggression, threats, sexual violence towards girls and women, damage or destruction of education facilities and recruitment of child soldiers. This article will analyse the impact and consequences of armed conflict on the right to education, and explore the role of education in promoting either violence or peace.
