La Sanidad Pública y la influencia de la fiebre amarilla en torno al debate constitucional de 1812

Resumen

Resumen: Este artículo aborda el debate en torno a la sa­lud pública en el seno de las Cortes de Cádiz hasta la promulgación de la constitución de 1812. Resaltando el papel que tuvo la epide­mia de fiebre amarilla en este proceso, el texto pretende avanzar en una doble dirección: rea­brir el diálogo entre sanidad y política en un momento crítico para la historia de España y, por otra parte, ahondar sobre los intentos de crear un corpus coherente de legislación sani­taria y los elementos que lo dificultaron.

Summary: This article deals with the debate on Public Heath in the Cádiz Cortes (parliament) in the period up to the enactment of the Cons­titution in 1812. Underlining the key role of yellow fever played in this process, it pursues two lines of argument: reopening the dialo­gue between Health and Politics at a critical point in Spanish History and examining the attempts to create a coherent body of sanitary legislation as well as the elements that impe­ded the process.
