Los judeoconversos portugueses de la edad moderna en la historiografía española: un estado de la cuestión

Resumen

Resumen: Durante la Edad Moderna, conversos y criptojudíos desempeñaron un papel significativo en la sociedad peninsular. Aunque muchos de ellos tenían su origen en Portugal, la historiografía española no siempre le ha prestado la atención debida a este sujeto social, procedente del reino vecino.

En el presente artículo, se analiza la evolución de las investigaciones que se han ido realizando sobre este fenómeno histórico, el cual ha sido relevante desde la primera mitad del siglo XX hasta nuestros días, con la aparición de una nueva generación de historiadores.

A lo largo del mismo, incluimos también bibliografía extranjera y a algunos de los más importantes especialistas mundiales sobre el tema, atendiendo a su influencia en nuestra historiografía y a cómo han afectado a los criterios metodológicos en los investigadores nacionales.

Finalmente, presentamos algunas de las posibles perspectivas para los próximos años sobre este campo de estudio, de quienes fueron injustamente conocidos como marranos.

Abstract: In Spanish society, during the Early Modern Age, conversos and crypto-jews played a significant role between 1492 and the decline of the Spanish Inquisition. Although many of them were born in Portugal, Spanish historiography did not always pay the proper attention to this social subject of the nearest kingdom.

This paper analyses the evolution of the historical researches about this subject since the middle of the twentieth century till nowadays by a new generation of historians.

The article also includes foreign bibliography and perspectives of the most important specialists in the theme around the world, always related to their influence in Spanish historians and how it affects their methodology.

To sum up, the paper shows some of the possibilities for the next years about these studies of the unfairly known as “marranos”.
