Legal and bioethical implications of artificial intelligence (AI). Special consideration of the international regulatory framework
Abstract
Like other scientific and technological advances, Artificial Intelligence (AI) poses both benefits and challenges and, due to some of its characteristics (opacity, indeterminate nature, and unpredictability in terms of risks) it demands international regulation to ensure that it will not compromiso human rights and fundamental freedoms. In this study, several options are proposed (international treaty, codes of conduct and judicial activism by international control bodies) that could serve this purpose, opting for what seems to us the best option: the standardizing path of informing principles such as human dignity in connection with the principle of necessity, as a catalyst for a response by the world community on a collective consensual basis.
