Cybervictimization profile on 2.0 gender violence

Abstract

The virtual space can often turns into a space in which people are exposed to multiple psychological damage leading to consequences in real life and can have far-reaching implications, especially for the young people. There is a discrete amount of studies designed to study network specifically gender violence compared to production for scientific study harassment in general. The purpose of this article is to present the analysis of the experiences of young people in gender violence 2.0, and identify the profile of cybervictimization. A survey study was conducted by gender violence Questionnaire 2.0, which involved 155 students of first and fourth course in high school in Barcelona, selected by purposive sampling Secondary Education. The results find that the girls are broader in gender violence in virtual environments concept, and are also more cybervictims in all dimensions, but especially in relation to the violence associated with the myths of romantic love. The study also able to identify a profile of cybervictimization: be older, have a partner, have a concept of gender violence less critical in terms of stereotypes for family roles, greater use of Twitter and Ask.fm, and have more experiences ciberagresor / a.
