El Carlismo
Abstract
Resumen: Uno de los ejes que vertebran la carrera como historiador de Julio Aróstegui fueron sus estudios sobre el carlismo. Desde su tesis doctoral dedicada al estudio de la segunda guerra carlista en Vizcaya, hasta su última obra, que tenía por objeto analizar la participación de los requetés en la guerra civil de 1936, sus investigaciones sobre el papel de las fuerzas legitimistas en los conflictos civiles contemporáneos serán una constante. A lo largo de esta trayectoria abordará tanto aspectos teóricos de naturaleza general como estudios de base erudita que le permitiran adentrarse en cuestiones clave del fenómeno carlista como las raíces sociales, la ideología, la evolución, la tradición insurreccional o las conspiraciones.

Abstract: One of the fundamental areas of Julio Arostegui’s work as a historian was his research on Carlism. From his Ph.D. thesis, devoted to the study of the second Carlist war in Vizcaya, to his last book, which analyzed the involvement of the requetés in the Spanish Civil War in 1936, his work focused on the role of the legitimist forces in contemporary civil conflict. Throughout his trajectory, he approached general theoretical aspects and produced meticulous scholarly works, researching key questions of the Carlist phenomenon, such as social roots, ideology, evolution, insurrectionary traditions and conspiracies.
