Stanley G. Payne: ¿Una trayectoria académica ejemplar?
Abstract

He trained during a period of intense politicization: the cultural Cold War. His consolidation in Spanish academia coincided with the attempt at historiographical renewal led by Ricardo de la Cierva, Carlos Seco Serrano and Ramon Salas Larrazabal. This article strives to explore the extent to which that prestige was matched with an exemplary professional praxis. At the same time, another factor will be taken into consideration: how U.S. Hispanism contributed to a better understanding of Spanish history in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s.
