Abstract
Abstract: There is a very strong tendency in the historiography of recent decades aimed to analyze fascism as an antagonistic phenomenon from liberalism. Instead, the analysis of the major works of Juan Castrillo Santos, deputy of the Progressive Republican Party and vice president of the Constituent Cortes, favours the adoption of a different perspective. Indeed, without ever abandoning a number of markedly liberal ideologemes, Castrillo Santos displayed throughout his life both a rejection of fascism as well as the acceptance as a dike against the revolutionary threat. In his work the idea that liberalism and fascism are opposites, but not antagonistic phenomena, emerges.
Key words: liberalism, fascism, property, revolution, anxiety.
