Granada and Almería in the “Catastro de Ensenada”. A Review of the Historiography
Abstract
This article reviews and summarises the last fifty years of research on the provinces of Granada and Almeria that has used the Catastro de Ensenada to explore economical, demographical and social issues above all, but also the landscape, architectural heritage and gender issues. In addition, an assessment is conducted of the methodology applied and the main difficulties encountered with the documentation, as well as the subjects that require further study or have not yet been addressed.
