Abstract

Agreements, standards, laws, statements are made; countries meet at summits, sign and ratify treaties and conventions, etcetera; however, the years pass and the causes of discrimination are maintained and the body of rules that are built from the law are ineffective against deterioration of our societies: crisis of values. The law falls on the vanity to believe that discrimination is solved from it and only due to it, or that only, with the imposition of rules that legally enforce upon institutions, countries and, ultimately, the people, It will achieved the end of discrimination and the violation of human rights. I suggest a different way: without belittling the role of the law, to reflect its inefficiency or failure to end discrimination. I suggest to forget policies of legal enforcement and apply for others that give preference in the pursuit of a social conviction on the true value of human rights. It is in Hegel where I support my proposal as I believe wise to resume many of his philosophical concepts for a better understanding of our modernity.
