Abstract

Emperor Hadrian’s physical presence in Greece was a unique, extraordinary event for his subjets. At Delphi, the city proclaimed sacred the days that the emperor was among its inhabitants. Greek enthusiasm for emperor’s works and presence provoked they acknowledged him as a living god. In connection with that, a new lecture of this “sacred days” shows the delphians’ emotion and sincere sentiment of gratitude towards Hadrian’s activity in their city.
