Towards an alternative system to the detention of irregular immigrants
Abstract
Detention of irregular immigrants is one of the key pieces of the control policy of irregular immigration in the European Union and Spain. This measure is little respectful to minimum standards of fundamental rights, is economically expensive and inefficient. The present work is a reflection on the need to implement a system of alternative measures to detention in Spain and even the possibility of defending a new alternative system that banish the detention as a legitimate measure of control of illegal immigration.
