The Influence of Georges Bataille on Jean-Luc Nancy’s thought. An Analysis of the Body as Limit, Community and Expenditure
Abstract
The aim of this article is to analyse the influence of Georges Bataille’s thought on Jean-Luc Nancy’s philosophy. Considering the body as the main protagonist, we will explore some of the fundamental concepts of Bataille’s theories to uncover connections with Nancy’s text Corpus. Our intention is to demonstrate how much of the “bataillean body” lives within the more contemporaty philosopher, underlining its importance and impact. In addition, our method enables us to highlight all of those ideas that Nancy basically overcomes offering us a more contemporary vision of the body, a body able to express the fragmentation of each human being.
