Educating historians in the late Franco period. Readings and teachers (1967-1973)
Memories and historical constructions
Abstract
This paper is divided into two parts. In the first, Readings and teachers, I examine the late Franco period, a time of hope for change and democratic transition in Spain. In the second part, Between French and British historiography, I discuss four readings that were important in our education and which constituted the foundations for our subsequent development. The method employed is the one proposed by the readings, which can be summarised as the tension between historian and context and the discovery of the essence of the historian’s role.
