The difficult situation of being an elderly person in Peru in times of pandemic

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to review and question some traditional concepts when addressing the issue of elderly adults, in order to analyze chronologically and from a human rights perspective, the legal framework that established and extended the quarantine focused on times of pandemic due to COVID-19. Sustaining that the legal measures adopted were discriminatory for reasons of age, not only meaning the deprivation of the right to freedom of movement, but also affected other human rights and fundamental freedoms. Finally, the voices of some elderly people who express their perception on the subject are presented.
