Comunicación sanitaria con las mujeres afectadas por Fibromialgia = Health communication with women suffering from Fibromyalgia
Abstract
Resumen: Introducción: Los usuarios demandan una comunicación efectiva por parte del personal sanitario, siendo el dolor una de los problemas que con más frecuencia conduce a asistir a los servicios sanitarios, es necesario conocer cómo perciben las mujeres con fibromialgia la comunicación con los profesionales sanitarios. Objetivo: Conocer la percepción de las afectadas por fibromialgia respecto a la comunicación, el trato recibido, las diferencias antes y después del diagnóstico y las posibles mejoras. Material y método: Diseño cualitativo mediante entrevistas en profundidad con una metodología fenomenológica. La muestra, intencional, estuvo compuesta por mujeres afiliadas a la asociación AFIAL, sita en Roquetas de Mar (Almería) en 2012. Resultados y discusión: Según la situación la valoración es negativa o positiva. La formación específica se considera de gran importancia (80%). La falta de tiempo en consulta (100%) y la falta de cercanía o empatía (100%) se valoran negativamente. El retraso en el diagnóstico acarrea insatisfacción con el sistema sanitario y los profesionales, así como la aparición de sentimientos negativos (80%). La escucha activa y la empatía adquieren un gran valor (100%). Conclusiones: La percepción de la comunicación establecida es deficiente. Existen áreas de mejora que deberían ser tomadas en consideración por los profesionales.

Abstract: Introduction: Patients demand effective communication whit health care professionals, being the pain the problem that most frequently leads to assist to healthcare services, it is necessary to know how women with fibromyalgia perceive communication with health care professionals. Objective: To know the perception of women affected by fibromyalgia regarding communication, the treatment, the differences before and after diagnosis and the possible improvements. Method: Qualitative design using in-deep interviews and phenomenology was used. The study sample was intentional and was composed of women affected by fibromyalgia that are members of the association AFIAL, located in Roquetas de Mar (Almería) in 2012. Results: Depending on the context the assessment is negative or positive. Specific training is considered of great importance (80%). The lack of time in consultation (100%) and lack of closeness or empathy (100%) are valued negatively. The delay in diagnosis brings dissatisfaction with the healthcare system and professionals as well as the appearance of negative feelings (80%). Active listening and empathy acquire a great value (100%). Conclusions: The perception of the communication established is deficient. There are potential areas of improvement that should be taken into consideration by health care professionals.
