Calidad de las páginas web de asociaciones de diabetes en España = Quality of websites on diabetes in Spain
Abstract
Resumen: Objetivo: Internet es una herramienta básica para informarse sobre temas de salud. Debido al incremento de diabéticos, se plantea analizar la calidad de la información sobre la diabetes en la web, específicamente en páginas pertenecientes a asociaciones de diabéticos (AD). El propósito del estudio es cuantificar el número de AD que poseen página web y analizar la calidad de éstas, identificar las empresas que las financian y describir el tipo de mensaje en relación a la información en salud. Material y Método: Estudio descriptivo transversal. Se encontraron 54 asociaciones de diabéticos con páginas webs operativas en el momento del estudio. Para su análisis se utilizó el "Cuestionario para evaluar sitios webs sanitarios según criterios europeos". Resultado: El 89% de las páginas webs analizadas obtienen una puntuación mayor de 20 puntos. De las 54 webs, el 41% están financiadas por farmacéuticas, seguidos de los gobiernos autonómicos (33%) y el fondo FEDER (31%). En relación con el tipo de mensaje, el 76% de las páginas contiene mensajes pro salud, por el 24% con mensajes neutros. Conclusiones: Las páginas webs de AD ofrecen una buena calidad en información y contenido, pero es destacable el interés de las farmacéuticas en la financiación de éstas.

Abstract: Objective: Internet has become an essential tool so as to access most health related topics. Due to increasing number of diabetics, analyzing diabetic information quality around the Internet appears necessary, specifically for those websites belonging to diabetics associations (DA). Study purpose was, on the one hand, to quantify and qualify the number of DA’s owning a website and, on the other hand, to analyse those websites quality including their messages significance, and to identify DA’s financial supporters. Materials and Methods: Transversal descriptive study. At the query time, 54 DA’s were found having their websites operating. Their analysis was made using "Questionnaire to assess health websites by European standards". Results: Around 89% of the websites which were analyzed got a score bigger tan 20 points. 41% among all websites were financed by pharmaceutical industry, followed by autonomous governments (33%) and FEDER funds (31%). At last, in relation to message significance, 76% of websites were pro health. The rest (24%) were neutral. Discussion: DA’s websites offer, in general terms, good quality information and contents, although it is also remarkable the great influence pharmaceutical industry has on them as their major financial supporter.
