La responsabilidad social corporativa en hospitales: un nuevo desafío para la comunicación institucional = Social corporative responsibility in hospital care: new challenges for institutional communication
Abstract

Abstract: The development of corporate communication in hospitals is characterized by, one the one hand, the recent nature of this profession, and on the other hand, the use of identity, mission, values, culture and image as a strategic corporate elements. In addition, some hospitals have incorporated corporate social responsibility (CSR) as part of corporate communication. This paper aims to reflect on impact of CSR in hospital field. The hospital context and the emotional connotations of medical treatment make it necessary that the concept of CSR prioritizes the improvement of basic service offered to the citizen (health care, scientific research and teaching) on those socially responsible initiatives so common in other professional sectors (sponsoring, environmental policies, etc.). The reason of this approach is that hospitals are, in essence, socially responsible companies; hence the interest in what hospital CSR should be different from CSR of other organizations.
