Social health content analysis of local newspapers
Abstract
Abstract: About 50% of population in Almería read general newspaper, especially local news, so the main objective of this study is a Social Health Contents analysis in newspaper in Almería, deepening in the space occupied, who writes and sources of information used.
Method: is a longitudinal study. The sample consisted of daily editions for a month the newspaper El Diario de Almería y La Voz de Almería.
Results: newspaper in Almería occupied a total space of 6, 97% of the social health contents, 27, 16% in the pages 8-16, the median is page 23. The most were written by journalist who used sources information, 41%. The most frequent topics were Gender Violence, Aborts, opening Health Centers, Home Care and Social Health Formation.
Conclusions: there is a need for health journalist to communicate effectively and ensure accuracy of social health information received by the population.
