Health communication and marginality
Abstract
Introduction: The health communication consists of the study and use of communication strategies in order to inform and influence both individual and community decisions to health improvement. Individuals or groups that have no access to national health system may belong to some sectors of marginalized population.
Objective: The aim of this paper consists of collecting available publications in medical databases about health communication in relation with marginal groups.
Material and methods: We provide a detailed review of some previously published works in health communication databases about health and marginal groups topic.
Results: Most of found papers are not related with the topic of study but with the health professionals or users perceptions. Nevertheless, they don't provide those messages or the health communications transmitted to that people.
Conclusions: Nowadays, there exist a small number of both English and Spanish published studies in medical databases related with health communication in marginal groups.
