Percepción de los pacientes acerca de la empatía de las enfermeras en Monterrey (México) = Perception of patients about the empathy of nurses in Monterrey (Mexico)
Abstract
Resumen: El estudio tuvo como objetivo conocer la percepción de los pacientes acerca de la empatía de las enfermeras en la ciudad de Monterrey, México. Se utilizó un diseño cualitativo con un abordaje fenomenológico y exploratorio. La muestra estuvo compuesta por personas que estuvieron hospitalizadas por mínimo tres días y con un rango de edad de 18 a 35 años. Se obtuvo que, si bien los pacientes percibían que se les atendía adecuadamente por parte de las enfermeras, también manifestaron que no se les pedía opinión respecto a las atenciones, así como una falta de interés en la vida personal de los pacientes. Así mismo, mencionaron las buenas habilidades que tienen las enfermeras para atender a los pacientes, pero percibían escasa iniciativa por su parte en las situaciones de crisis que ellos vivieron. Es necesario seguir preparando y dotando a las enfermeras de habilidades con respecto al cuidado del paciente, pero igualmente importante resulta la formación de las enfermeras en cuanto a la comunicación, considerando la opinión de los pacientes y teniendo en cuenta la vida personal de los mismos, pudiendo emplearlo como factor de recuperación.

Abstract: The objective of the study was to know the perception of patients about the empathy of the nurses in the city of Monterrey, Mexico. A qualitative design with a phenomenological and exploratory approach was used. The sample consisted of people who were hospitalized for at least three days and aged 18 years to 35 years. It was obtained that although the patients stated that they were adequately cared for by the nurses, they also stated that they were not asked for opinions regarding care, as well as a lack of interest in the personal life of patients. Likewise, they mentioned the good skills nurses have to take care of patients, but they perceived that they had little initiative on their part in the crisis situations that they experienced. It is necessary to continue to preparing nurses in terms of communication, considering the option of patients and taking into account the personal life of the patients, being able to use it as a recovery factor.
