A therapeutic journey through breast cancer through the television series Las de la última fila.
Abstract
The emotional reactions of those facing a breast cancer diagnosis may be subject to high levels of stress due to feelings of uncertainty, helplessness or hopelessness. The aim of this study is to analyze some stills from the television series Las de la última fila (Sánchez Arévalo, 2022), as a coping strategy through health communication to cushion the impact and alleviate stress, since the changes that occur during the disease may have a visual, emotional or psychological impact. The filmic medium serves as a contextual map, simplifies a reality and makes it possible to see beyond it.
It is based on a qualitative methodology through a filmic analysis by means of Vanistendael's theoretical approach and a scientific evaluation from its aesthetic experience. From the study, the importance of resilience as a coping strategy is obtained, since it allows the person a greater emotional balance in the face of an unexpected diagnosis, due to the fact that a high and constant stress caused by the uncertainty generated by the disease can compromise the defense mechanisms and weaken the immune system.
