La información sobre la viscosuplementación intraarticular con ácido hialurónico para la osteoartritis de rodilla en los medios de comunicación españoles

Resumen

Introducción: Las inyecciones de ácido hialurónico siguen siendo una opción común no quirúrgica para el tratamiento de la artritis de rodilla, a pesar de la falta de evidencia clínica y acuerdo entre organizaciones médicas sobre su eficacia. La investigación previa sugiere la necesidad de analizar el rol que los medios juegan en la popularización de esta terapia. Objetivos: Estudiar la información publicada por medios españoles entre el 2012 y el 2022 sobre este tratamiento con el fin de examinar si se puede identificar algún tipo de sesgo optimista que pudiera ayudar a justificar el creciente interés de la ciudadanía por este tratamiento. Metodología: Se examinan un total de 103 noticias extraídas mediante MyNews y se codifican mediante 10 criterios utilizados por estudios previos en el ámbito del análisis de la información sobre terapias emergentes. Resultados: Se confirma el progresivo incremento de la información publicada sobre este tratamiento y se da cuenta del ajuste de las noticas de la muestra a cada uno de los criterios utilizados. Conclusión: La información examinada a cerca de en las inyecciones intraarticulares de ácido hialurónico muestra carencias informativas y se subraya la necesidad de información precisa que resulte realmente útil a la ciudadanía.
